Sunday Divaan and gym on Limited Opening

The Gurdwara Sahib darbar is currently due to be open once a week, every Sunday (as long as safety guidelines permit).

Divan: Sunday 11am – 1pm
Gym: Monday to Friday 9am-12pm & 2pm-9pm

Sangat Ji over the last 6 months of restrictions there have been several in our Bradford sangat that have contracted the virus; some have recovered with mild symptoms other months later are still not 100%.

With these facts in mind the Gurdwara sevadaars urge the sangat to follow procedures that have been put in place; they are there to protect the Sangat, Sevadaar and maybe those who you come into contact with who are elderly and are shielding. Its our duty to protect ALL in every community.

Gurdwara Sahib Reopen

Sangat will access the Gurdwara Sahib Entrance via the Wakefield Road entrance – the double doors by the roundabout.

Sangat will be asked regarding Covid 19 symptoms/ If they they have any of these, entry will be denied.
Every sangat member will have their temperature taken. If their temperature is too high entry will be denied.

Every sangat member will be asked to wear a mask, One can be provided if they do not have one. If they refuse to wear a mask for safety then entry may be denied.

Every sangat member should bring their own head covering (rumaal), as appropriate. The Gurdwara sahib will not be providing these.

Every sangat member must provide their contact and address details, as per track and trace requirements by the government.

Sangat members will place their shoes in the provided boxes and collect a token.
Sangat members will then proceed to the hand wash basin or hand sanitizing station.
Sangat members will then proceed to the divan via the staircase – a one way system will be in operation.

Sangat members should not do matha tek at the golak, but instead matha tek at their allotted seating space.
Sangat members will not be able to do parkarima of guru sahib during this time.
Sangat members can collect their bag of dry parshaad near the designated exit door from the Darbar Sahib

Sangat members will follow the one way system in operation when exiting the divan.
Sangat members will collect their shoes by returning the token to the sevadaar.
Sangat members will wash/ sanitize their hands before exiting the building.

Gym Reopening

Users must arrive at the gym ready to train. There will be no changing room or shower facilities available for use.

  • Entrance will be via the existing entry door. This will not be used for exiting the building.
  • Users will be asked if they have any symptoms related to Covid 19. If they symptoms exist, entry will be denied.
  • Users will also be asked if they have returned from abroad in the last 14 days. If yes, again entry will be denied.
  • Every member will have their temperature taken. If their temperature is too high, entry will be denied.
  • Every member must sign in, according to track and trace requirements.
  • Members will then proceed to the hand sanitizing station.
  • Members will then proceed to the gym area, following the arrows marked on the floor.
  • Once in the main gym area, there are machines which have been marked as “Not in use” – members must not use these machines under any circumstances.
  • In the loose weights and bench area the floor has been marked with tape.
  • Only one member is allowed in each marked area at any one time, unless they belong to the same household – in which case they can use the area together.
  • After using a machine/weights, every member is responsible for cleaning the equipment. This must be done by using the cleaning stations which are strategically placed around the gym. Members must dispose of the paper towels used for cleaning equipment in the bins provided.
  • Members must not hang around the gym to chat in groups. Seating has been removed to discourage this behaviour.


If a user tests positive after visiting the gym, they must inform gym management. The gym management will then contact all members who have attended the gym to advise them to isolate as per government guidelines. The gym will then be closed for 7 days whilst a deep clean is undertaken.
