Bhai Ravi Singh of Khalsa Aid was able to visit the Gurdwara sahib ji on Sunday, and was ble to brief the sangat about the various projects Khalsa Aid are currently working on and also speak about why the organisation was set up and what obstacles they have faced since setting up.
Bhai Sahib spoke about the work carried out in Haiti, Kenya, and UttaraKhandh (India).
There was a short video shown which was about the projects involving the families of the shaheeds.
Bhai sahib stressed the point that it is the collective responsibilty of the Panth to look after the families of the shaheeds. The Singhs and Singhniyan who have made the ultimate sacrifice have done so in the belief that the Panth will look after their families after them, but unfortunatley we have neglected our duties. Some of the families are living in extreme poverty as the sole bread winners were the ones that became shaheed.
We have uploaded the audio recording for you to listen back to:
The Gurdwara was also able to present a cheque of £2800 to Khalsa Aid which has been collected by the sangat at the Gurdwara Sahib

We are currently collecting surveys to measure support for a new primary school in our area to open in September 2014.
Our aim is to open a new primary phase free school in Bradford, teaching the national curriculum with an
emphasis on engineering from Reception to Key Stage 1 and 2, with the instillation of good social values as promoted within the Sikh faith. Our school will be free and non-selective in terms of entrance criteria. We
are passionate in our belief that such a school is in the best interests of our community and our children.
We would greatly appreciate if you could fill out the following survey, to assist us in assessing the demand for our school.
We may share this information with the Department of Education as part of our application for a new school.

Bhai Sahib then talks of a recent event which illustrates the power of Ardaas. The event is about a family who celebrated the birth of their newly born son by drinking alcohol and all the normal activities that occur when a son is born in a punjabi household. Unfortunatley the celebrations were shortlived as Doctors diagnosed the baby with downs syndrome. Listen to the audio below to find out what happened next, and how powerfull the ardaas is.
